Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Orange and Chatham Counties:
The Chatham County Board of Commissioners is set to meet on Monday at 6 p.m., as the board picks up its meeting frequency in the fall. Elected officials will be hearing an update on the Farmland Preservation Pilot Program and could vote on the Moncure Small Area Plan. The Carrboro Town Council meets on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., with one notable item on the agenda being adopting a resolution of support for Orange County using community engagement consultant services related to the Greene Tract Master Plan. The Orange County Commissioners will also meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Their agenda includes an update on the 2025 countywide property tax revaluation, a five-year lease extension for Hillsborough Commons, and the passage of a resolution supporting the availability of Medicaid prior to re-entry for incarcerated individuals. The Orange County Board of Education will hold a special virtual meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday to discuss and take action on its search for a new Orange County Schools superintendent. Monique Felder resigned the position in July. For a full look at the agenda, click here.
On Thursday, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education will hold a work session at the Lincoln Center, with the Closed Session beginning at 6 p.m. and the Open Session beginning “as close to 7 p.m. as possible.” Among numerous items on the agenda is an update to the 2023-24 fiscal year local operating budget, as well as the approval of a policy setting school meal and competitive foods standards.
