The Town of Hillsborough published its 2019 Annual Water Quality Report and said it found no violations in its treatment over the year.
In a release shared by the town government on Friday, Hillsborough revealed it treated roughly 584 million gallons of drinking water over the year and found no violations for the 150 substances it tests. Its Water Treatment Plant treated an average of an average of 1.6 million gallons per day, which is in accordance with both federal and state standards.
Also included in the annual report is updates on the expansion of the West Fork Eno Reservoir, which included the completion of dam modifications and the construction of a new spillway. The report said the entire project, which includes filling the reservoir to its expanded capacity, is projected for completion in 2021 after nearby road and bridge projects are finished. The town said those projects have experienced delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Town of Hillsborough uses the Eno River as its water source, drawing not just from the West Fork Eno Reservoir but also from Lake Ben Johnston and Lake Orange.
