Orange County officials are now offering a $5,000 cash reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of a woman who was found dead in her front yard.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation after 46-year-old Anne H. Kirkpatrick was found dead in her front yard in Hurdle Mills on Sunday afternoon. Authorities said on Thursday when announcing the reward that Kirkpatrick died “after a violent assault.”

An off-duty deputy who lives near Kirkpatrick found her body lying in the yard.

“We have been working this case since Sunday. The kind of work involved in a case like this is complicated, but we will get there,” Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said in a release. “That said, someone knows something that will help us get there more quickly. Anne Kirkpatrick deserves justice. We want to provide that for her, for her family, and for this community as soon as possible.”

Authorities have released very few details on the case at this time. Court documents show Kirkpatrick had taken out restraining orders against two men before she was killed.

Officials asked anyone with information on the case to call lead investigator Zach Baldwin at (919) 245-2939.
