****UPDATE: Farrell was arrested Monday afternoon.****

Additional law enforcement organizations have been called in to assist as the Orange County Sheriff’s Office continues the search for a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing over the weekend.

Authorities have obtained a warrant for first-degree murder for Mori Farrell Jr after authorities say evidence and interviews have led to the belief that Farrell “participated in the murder” of 50-year-old Anthony Latta.

Authorities were called to a home in Cedar Grove Saturday morning where they found Latta deceased from apparent stab wounds.

Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said at the time that the stabbing did not appear to be a random act or represent a greater threat to the community at large. He indicated the stabbing might be related to other criminal activity.

“All too often the crimes we investigate have a linkage to the sale and use of illegal narcotics,” Blackwood said in a release on Saturday morning.

Law enforcement officials were still searching for Farrell as of Monday afternoon and agencies including the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office and Burlington Police Department were assisting that effort.

Authorities believe Farrell resides on Sawmill Road in Cedar Grove.

The US Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force and the State Bureau of Investigation has also been asked to help in the search for Farrell.

Blackwood again asked on Monday afternoon for anyone with information regarding Farrell’s whereabouts to come forward.

“Anyone who assists the suspect in avoiding detection or arrest by authorities can be charged with the crime of accessory after the fact to a felony,” Blackwood said in a release. “It is our goal to apprehend Mr. Farrell in the safest manner possible, ensuring that he has an opportunity to avail himself of his constitutional rights, including the right to due process of law.”

If you have information concerning Farrell’s location, authorities ask that you contact Orange County Sheriff’s Office investigators Allen Cole at (919) 401-3800 or Keith Goodwin at (919) 245-2918.
