The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a Chapel Hill man wanted in relation to a shooting in Green Level, North Carolina.

A release from the sheriff’s office on Monday said it is looking for Rahmil Dimitris Ingram of 2507 S. Hillsborough St., Chapel Hill, who is charged with felony first-degree murder and felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Ingram, 27, is the cousin of Lavarus Deleon Atwater, 29, who was found dead about on May 31 at 2156 James Boswell Road in Alamance County. The sheriff’s office’s release said Ingram and Atwater were cousins.

Ingram is described in the release as armed and dangerous, with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office urging people to not approach him. He’s been known to regularly visit locations in Alamance, Orange, Chatham and Durham counties, according to the release.

In 2014, authorities arrested Ingram after a four-month search and investigation into a fatal shooting on Pope Road in Chapel Hill. He faced charges like assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first degree burglary, second degree kidnapping and more.

Police arrested Ingram again in 2016 on charges of attempted first-degree murder, weapon possession by a felon and conspiracy to commit a felony. Authorities at the time accused Ingram of firing multiple gunshots into a residence on Forsyth Drive in Chapel Hill before leaving the area.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office said who has seen Ingram or knows his whereabouts is urged to call 911 or Crimestoppers at 336-229-7100.
