The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two suspects after an early morning break-in and shooting.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed that deputies from responded to a home on Lucas Farm Lane just after 2 a.m. Friday. Deputies found a man and woman in the home, who had both been assaulted. The man was shot in the hand, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said in an update on Friday that the man was “awoken by his wife screaming as she was being attacked by two men. When he went to her aid, the attackers began assaulting him and demanding money.”

Law enforcement officials said they are looking for two suspects but did not have a description of the suspects. The update from the Sheriff’s Office said that the victim said one man carried a backpack and the other had a handgun.

It does not appear, according to law enforcement, that any items were taken from the home.

“Home invasions are terrifying for the victims as well as for the community in general because they threaten our sense of safety in our own residences,” sheriff Charles Blackwood said in a release. “For this reason, it is especially important that we identify and arrest the suspects who committed this crime.”

The sheriff’s office is offering a $2,500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects in this case. Any community member who has information on the incident is asked to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at (919) 245-2900. Callers can remain anonymous.
