A traffic stop in Jacksonville, Florida, has led to the arrest of a man wanted in connection with an alleged 1998 rape in Orange County.

Records show that Arie Monta Lee was in the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday on charges of first-degree rape and kidnapping.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office officials said Wednesday afternoon that Lee was wanted in connection with a 1998 case. He was arrested by members of the US Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force on January 30, according to law enforcement, after a match with the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System, otherwise known as CODIS.

The DNA hit came from evidence collected by local law enforcement investigating the alleged rape in 1998.

Lee was initially held on a $500,000 secured bond and was scheduled to make his first appearance in Orange County Court on Wednesday.
