Orange and Durham County authorities have made an arrest in relation to a pair of Orange County convenience store break-ins in February.

Both the Orange County and Durham County Sheriff’s Offices shared releases on the arrest of Anthony Tyrone McLean, 57, of Durham, which occurred on Wednesday. Authorities arrested McLean in Durham and he is currently being held in the Durham Detention Center.

The cases under investigation stemmed from two separate break-ins on February 21 and February 25. The first happened at Pantry located on U.S. Highway 70 at 4:05 a.m., when two subjects broke the glass door and entered the store. They took money, cigarettes and lighters. Four days later, at 4:27 a.m., intruders broke into the Breeze Thru on Old NC 86 while it was closed for business and took cigars and cigarettes.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, investigators learned Durham and Cary officers were working on similar cases within their ares and the law enforcement agencies coordinated their efforts.

Following his arrest in Durham on Wednesday, authorities also served McLean with outstanding warrants from Orange County including second degree kidnapping, common law robbery, two counts of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and two counts of damage to property.

McLean is being held under a $61,000 secured bond.

Both releases said investigators are seeking information about McLean’s accomplice. Anyone with information is urged to call Dylan Hendricks at (919) 245-2951.
