A Chatham County man has been charged with murder in connection with a child abuse case.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by UNC Hospital about a potential case of child abuse, on December 5, that occurred around Haywood Road in Moncure. The juvenile victim died as a result of injuries sustained during the incident, according to police.
24-year-old Jeffrey Ferguson was arrested, on Friday, as part of the investigation.
Ferguson was charged with murder, non-negligent manslaughter and felony negligent child abuse causing serious bodily injury.
The Sheriff’s Office says this is an ongoing investigation.
Ferguson is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on January 4, 2016.
Hope he burns for what he did to that incident baby. Everyone in community believes he did it. He was only 1 home with baby at the time of incident. Wake up ppl someone did it. Baby didn’t do it to him self. So sad. Rip little one may justice be served.
He’s innocent! Dr’s report said head injures were caused by prolonged CPR. Jeffery was and is speaking the truth! I knew he didn’t kill his baby son. No he was trying to save his sons life due to illness. He does not deserve to burn! Lady you know nothing about what you speek!
Beth I work in EMS for one I’m sure you didnt see the doctors report because that confidential. Secondly I’ve done CPR on many infants since working in EMS you can’t have subdural hematomas behind the eyes due to CPR not possible. The child was injured some way I know his wife personally and it’s not for anyone to say what happened but somehow the baby is dead and medical evidence doesn’t lie.
This is a good man!! I’ll never believe he is guilty! If you don’t know this man then don’t say anything.
