After nearly three days of investigation into a fatal shooting, the Chapel Hill Police Department said it charged a man with first-degree murder.
A release from the department Sunday night said authorities have charged 22-year-old Anthony Wuanya Holman. Holman, who is listed as a Chapel Hill resident in the community alert, reportedly turned himself in on Sunday around 6 p.m.

The first degree murder charge is in connection to the death of 19-year-old Rahzel Tyreek Jenkins, who died on Thursday, August 25. Chapel Hill Police officers responded to a call reporting a shooting shortly before midnight within the University Gardens housing community. When they arrived to 800 Pritchard Avenue Extension, officers found Jenkins suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said he was taken to UNC Hospitals and later pronounced dead from the extent of his injuries.
According to Chapel Hill Police’s arrest report, Holman is listed as a resident of University Gardens.
Holman is being held at the Orange County Detention Center for the charge and was issued no bond.
