Two employees with the Durham County Sheriff’s Office recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The office shared a release on Monday with the news, saying the two individuals have not had contact with each other, indicating the office is not experiencing an outbreak. The Durham Department of Public Health, however, will be conducting contact tracing and notifying those who came into close contact with the either of the employees.

Monday’s release did not specify when the employees received the results of their COVID-19 tests.

In April, six employees with the Durham County Sheriff’s Office tested positive for the coronavirus. The office had previously taken steps to protect workers and inmates’ health earlier during the pandemic.

“Sheriff’s Office employees have been following protocols set out by the [Centers for Disease Control] for social distancing, hand washing and wearing face coverings,” said the office’s release.

No further information about the individuals or their statuses will be release, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
