Milltown restaurant in downtown Carrboro has closed.

Owners Josh and Drew Wittman posted a message on the restaurant’s Facebook page announcing the closure on Memorial Day.

“We’ve had an amazing run of almost 15 years in Carrboro, not only taking pride in introducing so many people to Belgian beer culture in the early days of Pop the Cap in NC, but to be a place where first dates [occurred], partnerships were forged, marriages proposed, first gigs played & so many fantastic Oktoberfests/Carrboro Music Fests!!”

The message said the Wittmans are ready to “pass the torch” to new ownership of the building and business, noting increased food and beverage offerings around the region.

“We end not with regret but with so many great memories from so many fun times. And we hope that we’ve done well enough in our 15 years that each of your carries a fond memory of Milltown that will occasionally make you smile in the years that lie ahead.”

CrossTies Bistro & Beer Garden in downtown Carrboro also recently announced its closure.
