Chapel Hill Police are looking for a suspect after the State Employee’s Credit Untion was robbed on Thursday.

Police say officers responded to the reported robbery on Elliot Road just before nine o’clock Thursday morning.

The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, according to police, and the suspect fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Authorities say no weapon was displayed.

Police describe the suspect as a black male between 50 and 60 years old, approximately 5’ 10” to 6’ tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. Officials believe the suspect changed clothes after the robbery and was last seen wearing a light-colored baseball cap, a rust-colored plaid shirt, carrying a silver cane and two canvas grocery bags.

The suspect may have boarded a bus traveling toward downtown Chapel Hill, according to police.
