
The Carrboro Police are actively seeking a suspect in an armed carjacking which occurred Wednesday evening.
According to a release from the police department, the carjacking occurred in a private parking lot in the 200 block of Roberson Street at around 5 p.m. Police say the victim was sitting in their vehicle, a gold 2008 BMW, and was approached by an unknown male. The male then brandished a firearm and stole the vehicle, which was last seen traveling east on Roberson Street.
Police describe the suspect as a thin Black male in their late teens to early 20s, wearing a ski mask. The case is being described as an isolated incident, and police say there is no current threat to the wider community.
Carrboro police urge everyone to be mindful of their surroundings and to report any suspicious individuals or circumstances by calling 9-1-1.
