Stretch of Jones Ferry Road in Carrboro to be Closed Week of February 26

UPDATE: As of March 1, NCDOT says its Jones Ferry Road project is complete and the road is reopened to traffic.

A section of Jones Ferry Road between Old Greensboro Road and Old Fayetteville Road will be closed for scheduled repairs between Monday, February 26 and Friday, March 1.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says the repairs are to fix slope failure from water in University Lake “eroding the shoulder and beginning to undermine the guardrail and roadway.” Work will be continuous, beginning February 26 at 9 a.m. and ending March 1 at 5 p.m.

According to the Town of Carrboro, a detour route is yet to be established. In the meantime, the town urges motorists to consider alternate routes and be mindful of workers in the construction area.
