After landing Virginia transfer Justin McKoy this past weekend, new UNC head coach Hubert Davis scored another incoming transfer on Friday with the addition of former Oklahoma forward Brady Manek.

The 6-foot-9-inch, 231-pound senior averaged 10.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last season for the Sooners, while shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range.

Manek, who announced his choice of UNC on social media, averaged double figures in scoring for each of his four years in college. Additionally, he converted a total of 235 career three-pointers, which is 44 more than any other Division I player taller than 6-foot-9.

Manek’s shooting ability at the forward position should allow the Tar Heels to open their offense up around the perimeter, leaving sophomore forward Armando Bacot to work the paint with more room should he decide to return to school after testing the NBA Draft process.

Manek graduated from Oklahoma this year with a degree in management and has one year of eligibility remaining.

With the Tar Heels recently losing Garrison Brooks, Walker Kessler and Day’Ron Sharpe in the frontcourt, the addition of Manek and McCoy shows that Davis is more than willing to use the NCAA Transfer Portal to fill out the UNC roster.

“Kids have changed,” Davis said during his introductory press conference. “The game has changed. We have to adapt. We have to get better. We’ve got to go to the transfer portal and find big-time players that want to be a part of this unbelievable program that can play right away and be big-time players out there on the floor.”
