Friday afternoon, for the second time this week, a robbery occurred at an SECU branch in Chapel Hill.

Friday’s robbery occurred around 4:09 pm at the State Employees Credit Union branch on Elliott Road. According to Chapel Hill police, the suspect entered the bank and demanded money, was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled on foot in the direction of Whole Foods. No weapon was displayed.

An SECU branch on Pittsboro Street was robbed in similar fashion on Tuesday, July 2. Police have now named a suspect in that robbery: 61-year-old Alvin Lennon of Durham. He’s now wanted for Common Law Robbery.

Lennon has not officially been named as a suspect in Friday’s robbery, but both robberies were committed by individuals sharing a similar description: police describe Friday’s robber as a black male in his early 60s, about 5’10” and 180 pounds.
