A pair of new coaches will be joining the UNC football staff, the school announced over the last couple of days.

Billy High will join the team as the director of football recruiting and assistant athletic director, while Maurice Sims was brought on as the assistant strength and conditioning coach.

High arrives at UNC after having served in the same role at Auburn over the last two seasons. A 2012 graduate of the University of Tennessee, High got his start in college athletics in spring of 2009 when he served as a recruiting intern with the Volunteers.

He also received his master’s degree from Tennessee in 2015 with a focus on teacher education.

“Billy High is one of the best young recruiting minds in college football,” UNC head coach Mack Brown said. “His background as a teacher, coach and athletics administrator has uniquely prepared him to lead our recruiting efforts at Carolina.”

Sims, meanwhile, worked under UNC’s new strength and conditioning coach Brian Hess at Army for the last two seasons. He also previously served as the associate strength and conditioning at North Carolina A&T.

“Coach Mo’s eye for detail, leadership and ability to build relationships with athletes will make him a cornerstone for our strength and conditioning program,” Hess said. “I couldn’t be happier to have him on my staff and part of the UNC athletic department.”
