Former embattled UNC wide receiver Greg Little reached an agreement Friday with the Arizona Cardinals that will give him another shot at the NFL, a league he hasn’t played a game in since 2014.

After originally trying out for the Cardinals during their rookie minicamp back in May, Little was invited back to participate in the team’s mandatory minicamp on a tryout basis–ultimately earning himself a second chance.

Little was originally a second-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2011 after being forced to sit out his senior season at UNC due to taking a payment of more than $20,000 from Georgia-based sports agent Terry Watson.

This caused a permanent strain on the Durham native’s relationship with his alma mater that still exists to this day.

As a rookie with the Browns in 2011, Little set career-highs with 61 receptions and 709 yards. He spent three years in Cleveland before joining the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2014 campaign.

He made just six catches in six games for the Bengals, and would ultimately not see the field again in NFL regular season action. Although he had a brief stint with Cincinnati in 2015 and another with the Buffalo Bills in 2016, injuries prevented him from making any kind of comeback attempt.

“When you come in the league, everybody has high expectations,” Little said during the Cardinals’ rookie minicamp in early May. “Everybody thinks they’re going to have this illustrious career. That’s not always the case.”
