Rising UNC senior Kelly Whaley began her summer season with a bang this past week when she won the Hartford Women’s Open in record-breaking fashion.
Whaley–who led the Tar Heels with a 73.24 stroke average last year–finished the 36-hole event with a score of 7-under-par, while setting a women’s course record with a 5-under-par 65 in the second round back on June 10.
The first round of the tournament was played at Goodwin Park Golf Course, with the second round played at Keney Park Golf Course.
