With the program’s 31st ACC regular season championship now in hand–along with a huge revenge victory over Duke on Saturday night–it’s easy to forget UNC is just one week removed from the worst offensive performance in the Roy Williams era last Monday at Virginia.

That loss to the Cavaliers was enough to convince voters for the AP Top 25 to drop the Tar Heels one spot from No. 5 to No. 6 in this week’s rankings.

The top five consists of Kansas, Villanova, UCLA, Gonzaga and Oregon.

UNC is still the highest-ranked team from the ACC.

Louisville–at No. 10–is the next team from the league among the poll, with No. 14 Duke, No. 16 Florida State, No. 21 Virginia and No. 22 Notre Dame following close behind.

As has been the case for nearly the entire season, no other conference has as many teams in the top 25 as the ACC’s six.

The Tar Heels are the top seed in this week’s ACC Tournament in Brooklyn, and have received a double-bye into the Quarterfinals.

UNC will try to assert its case for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament with a strong showing in the Big Apple–beginning Thursday afternoon against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Syracuse and Miami.
