Fresh off seven wins in a span of 13 days–including a Maui Invitational title–the UNC men’s basketball team continues to move up in the AP Top 25.

The newest poll released on Monday has the Tar Heels checking in at No. 3, as they continue their streak of moving up one spot each week since starting the season at No. 6.

Only Kentucky (No. 1) and Villanova (No. 2) are ranked ahead of UNC at this point. The Tar Heels received four first-place votes, while Kentucky had 40 and Villanova got 20.

Head coach Roy Williams has been quick to downplay the notion that his team has established itself as a national championship contender, saying that no team has ever won it all in November.

However, the Tar Heels’ red-hot start has certainly inspired a fan base still heartbroken over coming up just short in last year’s NCAA title game.

Other ACC teams in the top 25 include: No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Virginia, No. 14 Louisville and No. 22 Syracuse.

UNC scored its first win over a ranked opponent in last week’s Maui Final over No. 17 Wisconsin–and will have another chance to do so this Wednesday on the road against No. 13 Indiana.
