The Chicago Bears were the winners of this year’s April Fools Day.
In honor of April Fools Day and the team’s 100th year in existence, the Bears added a “1” to the front of every player’s number. Khalil Mack became No. 152, Kyle Long became No. 175 and former UNC quarterback Mitchell Trubisky earned No. 110.
Of course, the NFL doesn’t allow triple-digit jersey numbers so this was just a fun gag by the team.
But the Bears have turned the joke into something meaningful by auctioning off Trubisky’s mock jersey. The money will go towards the team’s Bears Care initiative, which is committed to improving the quality of life for people in the Chicago community.
This one-of-a-kind jersey has an official Bears100 patch and reads “April Fools” on the back. As an added bonus, Trubisky will sign the jersey himself.
Of course, the bidding for this custom jersey has skyrocketed.
As of Thursday morning, the bidding for the April Fools jersey sat at $2,400.
Want to make a higher bid? Download the Bears app and submit your bid through April 10.
