Mitch Trubisky’s rise to stardom has been somewhat of a surprise.
After one year as a starter for the Carolina football team in 2016, Trubisky jumped to the NFL and was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft by the Chicago Bears. He compiled an 4-8 record as a starter for the Bears as a rookie, but looks to have a bright future as a pro.
His accomplishments on the football field have also earned him some time under the bright lights of television… in a way.
On the show New Girl, Trubisky’s jersey was shown in a flash-forward scene during the final season of the series.
WCHL news director and resident New Girl expert Blake Hodge was able to provide context for this scene.
Trubisky’s jersey was in the show because Nick Miller, one of the main characters in the show, is from Chicago. He’s a Bears fan. In the final season of New Girl, Trubisky’s jersey is prominently displayed on Miller’s wall. In a flash-forward in the series finale, Miller’s future son and dog are spotted wearing Trubisky jerseys.
With this flash forward taking place at least four or five years in the future, it seems like the producers of New Girl have high hopes for Trubisky’s future in Chicago.
