Former UNC football QB Mitchell Trubisky is the most popular bet to win the 2019 NFL MVP, according to Caesar’s Palace.
The No. 2 overall pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft, Trubisky had a breakout sophomore season. He threw for 3,223 yards and 24 touchdowns while leading the Bears to a 12-4 record and a playoff berth.
Trubisky opened with 75/1 odds to win NFL MVP, behind front-runners Patrick Mahomes (7/2) and Tom Brady (7/1). The former UNC star was also listed behind other young quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson (60/1), Jameis Winston (60/1), and Marcus Mariota (60/1).
So why is Trubisky the most popular bet?
Well for one, he’s a young quarterback with a high upside. Trubisky took a step forward in his second year with the Bears, so bettors are hoping that the trend continues. The Bears’ roster is also one of the most talented in the NFL, with All-Pro defensive lineman Khalil Mack anchoring the defense.
It’s a long shot that Trubisky wins NFP MVP next season, but his odds are sure to make Bears fans happy.
