Former UNC quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is starting his NFL career with the Chicago Bears.

The Bears traded up to the number two overall to take the former Tar Heel signal caller on Thursday night.

Trubisky had one of the best seasons of any quarterback in Carolina history as a redshirt junior last season.

Trubisky joins defensive lineman Julius Peppers and linebacker Lawrence Taylor being chosen second overall in the draft out of UNC.

Trubisky now heads to Chicago where former NC State quarterback Mike Glennon signed a three-year contract this offseason.

UNC has had eight players selected in the first round since 2008, which is second in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Trubisky is also the ninth Tar Heel to be taken in the top 10 of the NFL Draft.
