Talk about a slippery situation.
On Thursday morning, Piedmont Electric tweeted that they were aware of a power outage in the area south of Hillsborough and Mebane. No cause was initially given for this outage. More than 1,000 residents were left without power.

However, Piedmont later came back with an answer. Apparently a snake had climbed into the Buckhorn substation and caused the outage. Judging by the picture they tweeted out, it did not end well for the poor reptile.

Piedmont fixed the issued quickly. Hopefully no more adventurous snakes find their way into power substations from here on out.
