Join Aaron Keck Monday through Friday at 6:00 p.m. for “Live & Local,” where you’ll hear music from artists close to home, and even get the chance to listen in as local musicians talk about where they’ve been, where they’re going, and what’s happening in the local music scene.

This week on “Live & Local,” a full house in the 97.9 The Hill studio makes some music in support of a good cause. The annual Marathon Jam is this Saturday, February 29, from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Chapel Hill’s American Legion post to raise funds for the Fisher House — a non-profit that assists the families of veterans who are receiving medical treatment by providing free, safe and comfortable housing in close proximity of the treatment location.

The Marathon Jam gathers musicians and artists of all ages and styles to play music and create art for 12 straight hours, with the musicians generating donations by securing sponsors for each hour they participate in the jam. Since 2009, the recipients of our annual fundraiser have been the Fort Bragg Fisher House and Camp Lejeune Fisher House, both right here in North Carolina.

Listen below for the full conversation between 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck and John Santa, Keith Carroll, Robert Welch, Art Aylsworth and Greg Eldred. The group stopped by to play three songs — “Watching the Water Rise,” “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and “Trace of Love” — as well as to discuss the Marathon Jam and how it helps families in need. and tune in for more Live & Local weekdays at 6:00!
