This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Sarah Cornette from Scroggs Elementary School!
Sarah helped create “Same difference: The mural,” completed by kids at Scroggs Elementary and in Greece. This was made possible her Fullbright Scholarship, which is awarded to accomplished United States K-12 teachers from public, private and charter schools.
“I picked Greece because it has some parallels to our country,” Sarah said. “The recent economic crisis, massive numbers of refugees going through, rising nationalism and sort of reaction to this incredibly dynamically changing social environment. And I thought maybe they had some lessons for me to learn.”
