Beth Cantrell is Friday’s Hometown Hero.

Reverend Cantrell started an organization called Our Brother Legion to help those suffering from mental illness.

From the Our Brother Legion website:

“Our Brother Legion is an interfaith organization which seeks to educate and teach the faith community to reduce stigma with and on behalf of people living with mental illness, trauma, and addiction.”

Rev. Cantrell has a very personal connection to mental health.  She’s dealt with depression and bipolar disorder.  Also, while she was a pastor, a 29-year-old man with untreated schizophrenia lived in a tent on her church’s lawn.
