The UNC women’s soccer team earned a bounce-back win against Columbia at Dorrance Field on Sunday. It was Carolina’s final non-conference matchup of the regular season.

Kate Faasse struck in the 25th minute to open the scoring in a dominant first half, one which saw UNC outshoot the Lions 8-1 and take five corner kicks. Bella Sember doubled the lead early in the second half, and the Tar Heels cruised from there. Carolina took 13 total shots to Columbia’s six and held a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. In net, UNC keeper Clare Gagne made two saves to secure her fourth clean sheet in the team’s last five matches. In fact, Carolina has allowed just one goal in those five matches after allowing six in the first three.

UNC is 7-1 after non-conference play in its first – and potentially only – season with interim head coach Damon Nahas in charge. The Tar Heels will open up ACC play on Thursday, September 12 when they host Wake Forest at Dorrance Field at 7 p.m.
