A rivalry showdown in Chapel Hill on Friday night saw the 10th-ranked NC State Wolfpack take down the 13th-ranked UNC wrestling team by a score of 20-14.

It was the first ACC loss of the season for the Tar Heels, who fell to 11-6 overall with a 3-1 mark against conference opponents.

After redshirt freshman Austin O’Connor started the dual with a 9-4 win over No. 8 Justin Oliver at 149 pounds, the Wolfpack (15-2, 3-1 ACC) rallied back by winning each of the next five matches to take a 17-3 lead on the team scoreboard.

Wins by Cory Daniel (heavyweight), Gary Wayne Harding (133 pounds) and A.C. Headlee (141) helped the Tar Heels fight back to make the final score respectable at the end.
