Friday afternoon’s NCAA Tournament First Round match couldn’t have gone much smoother for the No. 2 overall seed UNC women’s tennis team, as the Tar Heels rolled to an easy 4-0 victory over the Morgan State Lady Bears at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill.
After cruising to the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 victories on Court One and Court Three, the Tar Heels (27-3) earned the team win with three consecutive straight sets victories in the singles portion of the match.
Marika Akkerman (6-0, 6-1), Jessie Aney (6-2, 6-1) and Chloe Oullet-Pizer (6-3, 6-0) wasted little time getting the job done against a Morgan State team that was clearly outmatched in the talent department.
