With a 4-1 victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs on Saturday in Chapel Hill, the No. 2 ranked UNC women’s tennis earned a place in the ITA National Indoor Tournament–which will be held in Chicago from Feb. 7-10.
UNC (4-0) took the doubles point early in the match against Old Dominion, before claiming the victory with singles wins from Sara Daavettila (6-3, 6-3), Alexa Graham (7-5, 6-1) and Makenna Jones (6-2, 7-6).
Old Dominion did turn heads a bit in this match, as Holly Hutchinson took down UNC’s Cameron Morra–the No. 2 ranked player in the country–in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
The Tar Heels will now look to advance to the championship match at the ITA National Indoor Tournament for the sixth year in a row, having won the event in 2013, 2015 and 2018.
