The fourth-ranked UNC men’s tennis team picked up an easy 4-0 victory over the Elon Phoenix on Saturday in Chapel Hill, moving its record to 3-0 so far in the 2020 season.
Saturday’s match began with the Tar Heels claiming the doubles point, then clinching the match with three dominant singles victories from Brian Cernoch (6-0, 6-0), William Blumberg (6-0, 6-0) and Mac Kiger (6-1, 6-1).
The match was part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, meaning the Tar Heels’ victory will now pit them against Georgia State on Sunday (1:30 p.m.) with the winner of that one punching a ticket to the ITA National Indoor Championships–which will be held Feb. 14-17 in Madison, Wisconsin.
