A battle between a pair of top-10 women’s tennis teams on Friday in Chapel Hill saw top-ranked UNC cruise to a 6-1 victory over the No. 8 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
UNC took an early 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point, then clinched the match with singles victories from Elizabeth Scotty (6-4, 6-2), Cameron Morra (6-2, 6-0) and Sara Daavettila (6-3, 3-2)–who won her match when her opponent–Gina Cohen–retired midway through the second set.
With the outcome already decided, the Tar Heels earned two more singles wins in straight sets from Alle Sanford and Makenna Jones.
