An own-goal in the second half by the fourth-ranked Duke Blue Devils was enough to propel the top-ranked UNC women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over their hated rivals on Friday night at Dorrance Field.

The Tar Heels (7-0-0) racked up 14 shots in the match, but were held scoreless in the first half for the first time all season.

Duke managed to tally eight shots of its own, but was unable to overcome the critical mistake which provided the difference on the scoreboard.

The Blue Devils fell to 5-2-2 with the loss, and represent the third top-10 team defeated by the Tar Heels so far this season.
