The powerhouse UNC women’s lacrosse program received a huge boost on Wednesday, as head coach Jenny Levy announced the addition of graduate transfers Katie Bourque and Kerrigan Miller to the Tar Heels’ 2021 roster.

Bourque was previously at Dartmouth, where she earned Third Team All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse after leading the Big Green to a 5-0 record and a No. 9 national ranking. She led the team in scoring with 21 goals and six assists.

Miller played her first four years at USC, and earned All-American honors in each of those years. She was also the No. 1 high school recruit in the Class of 2016 and has spent time playing for the U.S. National Team coached by Levy. In 2020, the all-around midfielder was a Second Team All-American who led the Trojans to a 6-0 record and the No. 7 national ranking.

The NCAA granted seniors in spring sports an extra year of eligibility due to the shortened season caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which is the rule that will allow Bourque and Miller to play for UNC next season.

UNC ended the 2020 campaign with a perfect 7-0 record, and as the top-ranked team in America.
