Legendary UNC women’s basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell became the ACC’s all-time wins leader on Friday night at Carmichael Arena, as her Tar Heels defeated the visiting UNC-Greensboro Spartans by a score of 83-62.
It was Hatchell’s 740th victory at UNC, which put her ahead of former Virginia head coach Debbie Ryan on the conference’s all-time list.
Sophomore forward Janelle Bailey had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead UNC (7-4), which built a 12-point lead by the end of the first quarter and led by 20 at halftime.
The Tar Heels also received 19 points from guard Stephanie Watts.
Dijana Milisic–who entered the game as the leading scorer in the Southern Conference–finished with 28 points for the Spartans (4-6).
