The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its preseason men’s tennis rankings on Tuesday, with a pair of Tar Heels earning spots among the top five.

Sophomore William Blumberg–last season’s NCAA Singles Runner-Up–will begin the year ranked No. 5 in singles competition.

Blumberg and teammate Robert Kelly also earned the No. 3 national ranking among doubles pairings.

UNC reached the NCAA Finals for the first time in program history last sea, with Blumberg and Kelly playing a large role in that success.

Despite the team coming up short to Virginia in the championship match, Blumberg was still awarded with the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award.

He was also named an All-American in singles and doubles as a freshman, while Kelly earned All-American honors in doubles for a second straight year.

This season, the duo will again be counted on to lead the Tar Heels to the promise land.
