There should be no shortage of talent this season for the UNC women’s tennis team, which placed five players on Tuesday among the preseason Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.

Sophomore sensation Sara Daavettila–last season’s ACC Freshman of the Year–checks in as the highest-ranked of the bunch, as she will begin this season at No. 4 among all singles competitors.

She is coming off a breakout first year, where she earned ITA All-American status after reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Other Tar Heels included in the singles rankings include: Jessie Aney (No. 22), Alexa Graham (No. 42) and Makenna Jones (No. 65).

Incoming freshman Allie Sanford represents the fifth ranked Tar Heel, earning the No. 38 spot in doubles competition alongside Daavettila.

UNC will begin its season with the Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational in Newport, Rhode Island from Sep. 15-17.
