UNC senior William Blumberg was recognized Tuesday as both the ACC and ITA Division I National Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, following a weekend in which he helped guide the Tar Heels to victories over No. 19 Illinois and No. 12 South Carolina.
Blumberg defeated Illinois’ Aleks Kovacevic–a semifinalist in last year’s NCAA Singles Tournament–in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, before going on to knock off last year’s NCAA Singles Champion Paul Jubb 6-3, 6-4 against the Gamecocks.
He also helped the Tar Heels clinch the doubles point against Illinois, and has UNC sitting at 6-0 to begin the 2020 campaign.
