After helping the UNC men’s tennis team claim the 2021 ITA National Indoor championship this past weekend, a pair of Tar Heels earned ACC weekly honors.

Junior Brian Cernoch was named the league’s Player of the Week, while he and his doubles partner William Blumberg were selected together as the ACC Doubles Team of the Week.

Cernoch won three singles matches over the weekend, with those wins coming against top competition from No. 10 Tennessee, No. 7 Virginia and No. 4 Baylor. His three-set victory over Baylor on Sunday clinched the national title for the Tar Heels.

Alongside Blumberg, a senior from Greenwich, Connecticut, Cernoch also won a pair of doubles matches against Tennessee and Virginia.

These represent the first two ACC weekly awards of the season for the Tar Heels, who sit at 6-0 so far in 2021.
