In a poll conducted by the league’s eight head coaches, the UNC women’s lacrosse team was selected Tuesday as the preseason favorite to win the ACC this season–while four Tar Heels were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.

UNC received a total of 62 points in the poll, finishing 10 ahead of second place Syracuse. Notre Dame was picked to finish third in the league, followed by Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke and Louisville.

The Preseason All-ACC team included attackers Jamie Ortega and Katie Hoeg, defender Emma Trenchard and goalkeeper Taylor Moreno. Only Syracuse had as many players named to that roster.

All four of UNC’s selections were also named Preseason First Team All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse.

The top-ranked Tar Heels begin regular season play this Saturday, when they take on No. 16 James Madison on the road.
