Make it six wins in a row for the UNC women’s basketball team, which seems to have recovered quite nicely after suffering a pair of upset losses over its first four games.
The Tar Heels defeated the Furman Paladins 84-56 on Sunday afternoon at Carmichael Arena, behind 20 points and nine assists from junior guard Paris Kea.
Sophomore Taylor Koenen added 16 points and 12 rebounds for UNC (8-2), while freshman forward Janelle Bailey chipped in 12 points of her own.
It didn’t take long for the game to get out of hand, as Furman (7-3) saw its deficit reach double digits before the end of the first quarter–and ended up trailing by 31 points at halftime.
The Paladins received a team-high 24 points from Celena Taborn. As a team, though, Furman shot just 31 percent from the field and was out-rebounded by a margin of 46-29.
