The UNC softball team picked up a tough road victory on Tuesday night in Knoxville, scoring all three of its runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 3-2 win over the Tennessee Volunteers in a rematch of last season’s NCAA Tournament.
A two-run double by Lexi Godwin gave the Tar Heels (10-13) a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth, while Zoe Goodman followed that up by driving in Godwin with a single to complete the scoring for UNC in the game.
Tennessee (14-9) rallied with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, but was unable to muster anything else against Tar Heel pitcher Hannah George–who earned her ninth victory of the season.
