UNC sophomore shortstop Ike Freeman was among 53 players named Friday to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, an honor recognizing the nation’s top player at the position in college baseball.

A fantastic player both with the bat and the glove, Freeman is hitting .308 this season with .400 on-base percentage. He has also driven in 22 runs and scored 27 more himself through UNC’s first 36 games.

The award will be presented this summer by the College Baseball Foundation.
