The third-ranked UNC men’s soccer team rebounded strongly on Monday night following its first loss of the season this past Friday against UNC-Wilmington.

Playing on the road for the second straight game, the Tar Heels defeated UNC-Greensboro by a score of 2-1 to improve their record to 3-1 on the season.

Senior Alan Winn got things started for UNC with a left-footed blast that beat the Spartans’ keeper Jon Milligan in the 13th minute.

The Tar Heels then held onto that slim lead through the halftime break, until the 69th minute–when Durham native and freshman Lucas Del Rosario netted his first career college goal.

Although UNC controlled possession of the ball for much of the second half, UNC-Greensboro (0-3-1) managed to make things interesting with an 81st-minute goal from Alex Henderson.

It would not be enough, however, as the Tar Heel defense slammed the door shut the rest of the way.
