Heading into this week’s Maui Invitational, the UNC men’s basketball team continues to rise in the rankings.

The latest AP Top 25 released on Monday saw the Tar Heels move up one spot to No. 4 after a week that included victories over Long Beach State and Hawaii.

Following its last-second loss to Kansas this past Tuesday, Duke–which had been ranked No. 1–slid down to No. 6.

Kentucky and Villanova are now the top two teams in the country.

The No. 4 school in last week’s poll–the Oregon Ducks–suffered their first loss of the season against Baylor, causing them to fall all the way to No. 13.

Perhaps the biggest news at the top of the polls, however, is the entry of Indiana to the top five–with the Hoosiers coming in at No. 3.

UNC could potentially have a game against Oregon this week in Maui, while the Tar Heels are scheduled to play Indiana on the road at the end of the month.

The ACC was represented by four teams in the top 10, with No. 7 Virginia and No. 10 Louisville joining UNC and Duke among the nation’s elite.

In total, the conference placed six schools among the top 25–as No. 18 Syracuse and No. 25 Florida State rounded out the group.

Next on the schedule for the Tar Heels is a matchup with Chaminade–the Division II hosts of the tournament in Maui–on Monday night at 11:30 p.m.
