Just days after being named a Second Team All-American, UNC midfielder Cam Lindley was selected by TopDrawerSoccer–a prominent amateur soccer publication–as the National Freshman of the Year.

The only freshman to be named an All-American, Lindley started all 21 games for the Tar Heels in 2016 and recorded seven assists.

Having already received ACC Freshman of the Year and First Team honors, the Indiana native’s most recent awards are simply the latest added to his stack–one that continues to grow larger each week it seems.

With him patrolling the middle of the pitch, UNC (14-3-4) advanced to the men’s soccer Final Four for the first time since 2011.

Although the Tar Heels ultimately fell to eventual national champion Stanford on penalty kicks in the NCAA Semifinals, the future looks bright in Chapel Hill with Lindley a part of the fold.
